Irene M. Doyle Obituary (1912

Irene Margaret Doyle of Taylorville, IL died at 2:37 pm Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Taylorville Estates. She was born December 28, 1912 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Daniel J. and Katharine Coughlan Doyle. Surviving are two sisters-in-law: Mary Doyle of Decatur and Norma Doyle of Taylorville, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mary Ebel, and five brothers: Joseph Doyle, Richard Doyle, Bernard Doyle, Roger Doyle and John "Jack" Doyle. During World War II Irene worked at the Sangamon Ordinance Plant at Illiopolis. After the war she kept house for Msgr. William Powell at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville and later at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Decatur. She was secretary at St. Patrick's Grade School for many years. Retiring from there she returned home to care for her aging parents until their deaths. She continued her works of mercy volunteering at St. Vincent's Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility well into her 80's. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 11:00 on Saturday at the Church. McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
